5bit Software has announced the launch of EasyCatalog for InDesign CS4. EasyCatalog increases InDesign productivity by providing dynamic, two-way, linking of data from a CSV file, XML structure or ODBC database to text and images in InDesign documents. If the source data changes – such as last-minute price updates – the document can be updated automatically. EasyCatalog also offers semi-automatic and automatic creation of structured documents.
“Following the recent release of Adobe InDesign CS4, we are pleased to announce that the CS4 version of EasyCatalog is now available for download from our website,” said Mark Haden, Director of 65bit Software Ltd.
“We first released EasyCatalog for InDesign 2 back in 2003. Since then, both InDesign and EasyCatalog have come a very long way in terms of functionality and ease of use. We are excited by this latest release of InDesign and look forward to enhancing EasyCatalog even further.”
EasyCatalog for Adobe InDesign makes database publishing easy. Data can be imported from a complex, relational database, or a simple CSV or tab-delimited file exported from Excel. By linking InDesign content directly to source data, EasyCatalog improves accuracy and reduces page make-up time.
All of the optional EasyCatalog modules – including the new Relational module – are also now available. The Relational Module allows users to work with data sources of almost unlimited complexity within EasyCatalog and can be used to connect to relational databases such as MySQL or Microsoft SQL Server.
About EasyCatalog
Launched in 2003, EasyCatalog is trusted by thousands of users in over thirty countries across six continents. EasyCatalog increases InDesign productivity by providing dynamic, two-way, linking of data from a CSV file, XML structure or ODBC database to text and images in InDesign documents. By importing data directly into InDesign, errors are reduced and the accuracy of documents is increased. If the source data changes – such as last-minute price updates – the document can be updated automatically.
EasyCatalog also offers semi-automatic and automatic creation (using the optional Pagination Module) of structured documents.
EasyCatalog is available for InDesign CS, CS2, CS3 and CS4. The CS2, CS3 and CS4 versions are localized in English, French and German.
Optional modules for EasyCatalog are also available:
• The ODBC Data Provider enables EasyCatalog to connect directly to ODBC-compatible databases.
• The Pagination Module provides automatic creation of structured documents
• The XML Data Provider allows EasyCatalog to import XML data from a file or URL.
• The Scripting Module adds scriptability to EasyCatalog, allowing it to be automated from Javascript, Applescript or Visual Basic.
• The new Relational Module allows users to work with complex, relational, data structures. It also provides the ability to import SQLite databases into EasyCatalog.
